Title: Of Maple Keys [March 1, 2007]
Media: Pencil sketch
Notes: Actually this one has nothing to do with maple keys at all as they were added as an afterthought. I had finished sketching the girl and her fans and wanted to add something to balance out the weighting. The maple tree was added and the keys became borderlike details. Yeah, I have very thorough planning in some of my pictures and know exactly how they will look when I'm done (bahahaaaa)! ;P With how crazy classes have been lately I've been giving myself the opportunity to just sketch freely without trying to accomplish anything. Pretty much all of the updates up til now in 2007 are examples of this. Some of them turn out pretty good really, but they're immensely relaxing to work on during spare moments and slow classes without having to worry about not pulling off a picture I don't want to do poorly.
I've always been jealous of artists who can add little intricate details without overcomplicating a picture. So I've been working really hard on it, and this one shows some of the improvement. I love mapping back through my old art where I started picking up skills I never thought I'd have. How can I hate the things I've drawn, even if I can tell what went dreadfully wrong, if it shows how much I have learned to get where I am now!
